Avesta Housing names new board officers

Avesta Housing, the largest nonprofit affordable housing developer in Northern New England, has appointed new officers to its Board of Directors:

Dr. Renée Fay-LeBlanc, Chair – Dr. Fay-LeBlanc is an internal medicine physician and serves as chief medical officer at Greater Portland Health. Born and raised in Portland, she received a BA in biology at Holy Cross College and her MD degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at New York University. She is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and a McAfee fellow through the Hanley Center for Health Leadership. In addition to the Avesta board, she serves on the Maine Medical Center board and the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.

Peter Pitegoff, Vice Chair – Pitegoff is professor emeritus at the University of Maine School of Law, where he served as dean from 2005-15. He received an AB from Brown University and a JD from New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden scholar. He has worked, taught and written extensively in the areas of community economic development, corporate governance, nonprofit organizations, employee ownership, and urban revitalization. Before moving to Maine, Pitegoff was a law professor and vice dean at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, where he founded a clinical program in affordable housing and community development law, and previously was general counsel at the Industrial Cooperative Association in Boston.

Douglas Stockbridge, Secretary – Stockbridge is president of Rollins Management Group Inc., a health care and real estate management company that designs, builds and manages senior housing. He is also co-founder of Huntington Common Retirement Community in Kennebunk. He received a BS in biochemistry from University of New Hampshire and an MBA from New Hampshire College. In addition to serving on the Avesta board, Stockbridge serves on the Kennebunk Savings Bank Board of Directors and the University of New Hampshire Director of Athletics Advisory Board.

Jim Hanley, Treasurer – A native of Boston, Hanley is president of The Wishcamper Companies, an affordable housing and renewable energy investment company. He holds a BBA from University of Notre Dame and a JD from Boston College of Law. He has served as the CFO, CEO and president of real estate investment companies.
