Avesta Housing, the Portland-based nonprofit developer of affordable housing, on Tuesday unveiled the River Turn Apartments, Avesta’s first community in the Mount Washington Valley region of New Hampshire.

The first of four planned buildings, River Turn features 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

The three-story building has been Passive House-certified, meaning it has passed a rigorous design standard that maximizes energy efficiency, reduces the carbon footprint, and improves air quality and resident comfort.
