Avesta Housing President & CEO Rebecca Hatfield speaks at the grand opening celebration of River Turn Apartments in Conway, N.H., on Sept. 17.
CONWAY, NH — Avesta Housing, the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in Northern New England, held a grand opening celebration on Sept. 17 for River Turn Apartments, an affordable housing development for people of all ages and Avesta’s first in the Mount Washington Valley region.
The first of four planned buildings, River Turn features 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments in a three-story building that maximizes energy efficiency and resident comfort while reducing the carbon footprint.
“We are proud that these 40 households have chosen to call River Turn their home, and proud to collaborate with community partners who have demonstrated such commitment to affordable housing in the Mount Washington Valley,” said Avesta Housing President & CEO Rebecca Hatfield. “When our vision is complete, River Turn will provide more than 150 affordable homes to those in need of safe, accessible, affordable housing.”
Guest speakers at the grand opening were Juana Matias, New England regional administrator for the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development; Rob Dapice, executive director and CEO of New Hampshire Housing; and Ryan O’Connor, town planner for the Town of Conway. Prepared statements by U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas were read by Chuck Henderson, special assistant for Projects and Policy for Sen. Shaheen, and Victoria Laracy, special assistant to Policy and Outreach for Congressman Pappas.
