PORTLAND, Maine — NBT Bank has donated $5,000 to Avesta Housing to support its work of providing safe, quality, affordable homes and support services to people in need.
Avesta Housing is the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in New England, with more than 100 properties providing homes for more than 4,000 people in Maine and New Hampshire. NBT Bank’s gift will help it provide affordable housing and support services in the new year.
“Avesta opened 183 new affordable homes in 2023, and we have more than 800 additional homes in the development pipeline,” said Avesta Housing President & CEO Rebecca Hatfield. “This gift is indicative of NBT Bank’s longtime support of Avesta Housing, and we are proud to partner with them as we continue to work to ensure that everyone has a place to call home.”
“Affordable housing is a critical need across Maine and NBT Bank’s entire footprint,” said Avesta board member and NBT Bank Senior Director of Affordable Housing Kim Twitchell. “It is very rewarding to be involved with Avesta and to support their thoughtful approach and the strong impact they are having on the lives of people in our community.”
