Hampton Falls, New Hampshire – Nonprofit organization Avesta Housing will host a grand opening celebration of its recently developed affordable senior apartments, The Meadows in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, on Friday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. Speakers for the grand opening include: New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, New Hampshire Housing Finance Agency Executive Director & CEO Dean Christon, Hampton Falls Planning Board Chair Todd Santora, and Avesta Housing Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration Eric Boucher. The program will also include apartment tours.
The event culminates Avesta’s celebration of neighborhood revitalization activities nationally recognized as NeighborWorks Week. This year’s theme is “Advancing Opportunity,” and NeighborWorks organizations advance opportunity by empowering residents and communities with the tools, skills and services they need to help everyone thrive.
Avesta Housing President & CEO Dana Totman remarked on the project, “The Meadows truly reflects the concept of ‘Advancing Opportunity.’ With the creation of the first 24 units of housing for low-income seniors in Hampton Falls, these residents are afforded the chance to age in place gracefully and continue to make contributions to the community in which they live. We are fortunate to have the support of the town and its commitment to advance the provision of quality affordable housing for New Hampshire seniors.”
Avesta Housing developed The Meadows with funding support from Meredith Village Savings Bank, New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, Northern New England Housing Investment Fund, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. The building has 24 one-bedroom apartments targeted to senior households at or below 60% of the area median income.
The Meadows was designed with energy-efficient features such as solar panels, continuous exterior insulation, energy-efficient windows, high-efficiency mechanical systems, high-efficiency heat pumps, continuous-energy recovery ventilation, low-flow plumbing fixtures, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, low-VOC materials, and low-impact storm water management.
